Reopening Measures

Safeguarding our customers and employees remains of the utmost priority and we are pleased to have new measures in place to ensure this and prevent the spread of COVID -19.

Like everyone, we are adapting constantly to new government information so please do continue to check this page for updates. We have a number of new measures in place at our shop and bakery to help you and our staff feel safe and at ease.

*Face masks update* From the 24th July 2020 face masks are compulsory in shops. Whilst we have a shop area, our cake classes are small, selected groups working at their own socially distanced table with no general public present. Therefore face masks are not mandatory when you attend a cake class, but you should wear one when you are moving around our shop area. We provide face masks free of charge on entry. If you would prefer to wear a face mask or visor for the entire duration of the class feel free to do so.

Cake Classes

Unlike many course providers who operate from their homes or confined spaces, our shop and bakery is set over 800 square feet allowing you space and peace of mind. We are excited to show you our newly refurbished and redecorated shop! See the new measures we have in place below…

  • Attendees will have their own workspace to enable social distancing
  • Extra cleaning routines for high contact areas such as taps and tools
  • New increased toilet facilities
  • New smaller class capacity limits (please be aware this means dates will fill up quicker so early booking is recommended)
  • Single use, recyclable cups and stirrers for refreshments
  • Personal individual sanitisers provided for your use on classes
  • Extra communal sanitisation stations around the bakery
  • Format modifications to avoid crowding at points during classes
  • Disposable hand towels to replace fabric ones
  • Provision of complimentary face masks on entry or feel free to bring your own (compulsory as of 24th July only when moving around the shop area, optional when seated during cake classes)
  • Provision of complimentary food safe gloves (optional)

Rescheduling

New Bookings – If you book a class and need to reschedule it owing to reasons related to COVID-19, we will continue to waive the usual course moving fees. This applies to all new course bookings and bookings made from all previously rescheduled cake classes. You must email us on info@gourmetcupcakes.co.uk by 8am on the morning of your class to reschedule (we will be operating a waiting list for all classes owing to the new limited capacity).

Previous Bookings – For those of you that were due to come on a cake class that was previously cancelled, please email us at info@gourmetcupcakes.co.uk with your new chosen date so we can reserve you a place. You may choose to attend a different class of the same value, or pay the difference to attend a more expensive course if you wish. As course places are limited, we thank you for your patience and of course remain flexible to extensions to the 6 months if you are having trouble booking in. We have put a lot of effort and consideration into implementing new measures and believe that these can assure you of peace of mind and safety when attending a cake class however do understand if you prefer to wait a little longer, just keep in touch.

Cake Orders

We are fortunate enough to have a very large workshop so our small team will be able to safely fulfil cake orders whilst practicing any necessary social distancing for your collection and delivery. We understand that those of you with existing bookings may still prefer to postpone your event so just let us know the new date when you have it and all deposits etc will be carried forward for you. Do bear in mind that owing to the postponement of so many events it does mean that future dates especially for 2021 are in more demand than usual so we recommend early booking!

We are pulling out all the stops when it comes to prioritising food safety. The WHO has stated that there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be transmitted through food however we will continue to maintain our already high standard of hygiene practices. All high contact areas of our shop and kitchens will be sanitised at regular intervals along with tools and equipment. We already pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of food safety practices holding a 5 out of 5 rating with the government Food Standards Agency.

Gift Vouchers

New gift voucher purchases will have extended expiry dates of a year from purchase instead of the usual 6 months. All existing gift voucher holders will be given an additional 6 months to attend a class after the appropriate lockdown period has ended. Again, we remain flexible to the changing needs of customers so please just keep in touch with any personal circumstances relating to COVID-19 that may require further extensions.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate the changing guidelines and prioritise your wellbeing.

We really appreciate all your understanding and flexibility without which many small businesses, including ours, would simply not be able to survive. Your continued support, kindness and positivity in this unprecedented situation means a lot.

This page will be updated when applicable. Please feel free to get in touch directly if you have any further questions and we will post any updates when relevant.
